October 15, 2026. FAYETTEVILLE, GA. Every mile truly does matter. Thanks to an incredible outpouring of generosity from local businesses, organizations, Fayette Senior Services (FSS) members, and community supporters, FSS raised more than $43,000 through its Every Mile Matters Transportation Fundraiser. These funds will directly support the organization’s transportation program and will help ease the financial burden of transportation for seniors to help ensure the cost of a ride does not become a barrier to receiving needed care.

The fundraiser was launched in response to significant reductions in federal transportation funding that created a nearly $90,000 deficit for the program and resulted in increased ride costs for clients. For many older adults in Fayette County who no longer drive, transportation is much more than simply getting from one place to another. It can mean making it to a dialysis treatment, keeping an important doctor’s appointment, picking up medication, or maintaining the independence and connection that are so important to quality of life.

The response from the community was a powerful reminder of just how much Fayette County cares for its older adults. FSS is especially grateful to Peachtree City Rotary Club, whose extraordinary support as the campaign’s premier sponsor made a tremendous impact on the success of Every Mile Matters. FSS also extends tremendous appreciation to QTS, whose generous commitment as a major supporter provided significant momentum to the campaign. Every Mile Matters was further strengthened through the substantial support of SMC3, Fayette Law Group Attorney Victoria Farrell, and Salt Spa Haven, along with the generous grant provided by Yamaha. These sponsors will be featured on FSS transportation van wraps, serving as a visible reminder throughout Fayette County of the businesses and organizations that helped keep our seniors moving.

“We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who believed in this cause and chose to be part of it,” shared Morgan Lanier, FSS Program Development Coordinator. “Every donation represented more than a financial contribution. It represented someone in our community saying that our seniors matter, their independence matters, and their ability to access the care and services they need matters. Raising more than $43,000 is something our entire community can be proud of, and we are incredibly grateful.”

For over four decades, FSS has been making a meaningful difference in the social, emotional, and physical well-being of adults age 50 and better in our community. For older adults who no longer drive, getting to essential medical appointments and other places can be a challenge, putting their health and well-being at risk. FSS provides safe and affordable door-to-door transportation options with wheelchair accessible vehicles available.
