A Ride That Goes The Extra Mile

The simple task of driving a car is not an option for many seniors in Fayette County. As the leading provider of low-cost transportation services available in the county, our team delivers seniors to crucial doctor visits, dialysis, and pharmacy pick-ups on a daily basis.

Fayette Senior Services is the only option for many in our community to get to their life-saving treatments at an affordable cost. The cost of transportation is based on a sliding scale fee pertaining to the individual’s income. An initial intake and assessment will be completed prior to beginning use of transportation services and pricing will be based on a variety of factors.

“Hearing the appreciation of having a reliable and safe ride really puts into perspective how we take for granted our own ability to drive ourselves. I constantly hear ‘I don’t know what I would do without FSS and this service’ and it is apparent how needed it truly is. We are proud to be able to offer this to seniors in our community,”

– Jeff Wix, FSS Transportation Manager

Services Include

We offer two types of transportation to eligible participants: Voucher Transportation and Non-emergency Medical Transportation. Our transportation programs are open to Fayette County residents age 60 and better, as well as disabled adults age 18 to 59 who are unable to drive.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

With our Non-emergency Medical Transportation service, clients can arrange to have one of FSS’ drivers take them to medical appointments. This program also offers prescription pick-up service. Handicap accessible transport is also available. Service is available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. Services include travel to dialysis centers, medical appointments, and pharmacies.

Voucher Transportation

The Voucher Transportation service allows clients to purchase vouchers for a nominal fee and arrange transportation with one of FSS’ drivers for non-medical related trips. Transportation Vouchers can be used for any transportation needs, including the grocery store, drop off at the Life Enrichment Center, shopping, errands, and more.

The cost of transportation is based on a sliding scale pertaining to the individual’s income. An initial intake and assessment will be completed prior to beginning use of transportation services, and pricing will be based on a variety of factors.
